Notice of 2019 General Election,  Town of Blythewood, South Carolina

 The Town of Blythewood will conduct a non-partisan general election on Tuesday, November 5, 2019 for the election of the Mayor and two at-large members of the Town Council for four year terms commencing November 2019 and ending November 2023. 

Residents who are qualified electors desiring to be a candidate must file a Statement of Candidacy and pay a $10.00 filing fee for the office of Mayor and a $5 filing fee for the office of council member at the Blythewood Town Hall, 171 Langford Road, Blythewood, South Carolina beginning at 12:00 noon August 15, 2019 and no later than 5:00 PM on September 3, 2019.  Individuals with questions about the filing process should contact the Town Clerk at 803-754-0501.  

The last day to register to vote in person for this election is Saturday, October 5, 2019 by 12:00 noon. Voter registration by mail must be postmarked no later than Monday October 7, 2019. Voter Registration on line, fax or email must be entered no later than Sunday, October 6, 2019 at 11:59 pm. To register to vote or to obtain absentee ballots, contact the Richland County Voter Registration Office, 2020 Hampton Street, Columbia, S.C. Absentee ballots may be requested by calling the Voter Registration Office at 576-2240. In-Person absentee voting will begin Monday, October 7, 2019 at 2020 Hampton Street.

 The Polls will be open from 7:00 AM until 7:00 PM. The polling place for all precincts in this election--Blythewood 1, Blythewood 2, Blythewood 3, Longcreek, and Ridgeway (Fairfield County)—is:  Blythewood Park , 126 Boney Road, Blythewood, SC 29016  

The results of the election shall be determined according to the plurality method.    

At 9:00 a.m. on Election Day, the absentee ballot return envelopes will be examined at the Richland County Voter Registration and Elections office, 2020 Hampton Street, Columbia.

 On Thursday, November 9, 9:00 a.m. at 2020 Hampton Street, Columbia, the Richland County Board of Elections and Voter Registration will hold a hearing to determine the validity of ballots challenged, if any, in this election.
