50 MILES OF BARGAIN-HUNTING FUN …ALL DAY ’TIL DARK!

If you are a bargain-hunter, the weekend after Labor Day (September 7-8, 2018) is your time to hunt! There will be 50-miles of vendors offering everything under the sun at rock-bottom prices (and of course negotiations are expected!)  The route is a figure 8 loop that takes you from Winnsboro through Ridgeway to Blythewood and back. Then, it travels from Blythewood down Hwy 21 (Wilson Blvd) to I- 20.  Some locations will have many vendors at one site, and some will be scattered one-at-a-time along the route.

Mayor Ross would like to express his gratitude to all the entities that have come together to potentially make the most successful Big Grab event ever. Not just about vendors setting up tables and selling their wares, but for it to be an experience that people come to shop, eat, walk, talk and experience what our small town of Blythewood is really about.

After the Monday night council meeting on July 23rd, it may have seemed that this would not be possible. I want to thank the volunteers, our local small businesses and the Chamber that have bought into the same vision that the town has for this event. We want to make sure that our citizens and visitors will see the increased presence of the Richland County Sheriff’s Department in traffic control, trash receptacles and bathroom facilities along the areas of Main Street and Blythewood Road. The Blythewood Chamber will continue to promote the event through its various social media outlets. The Chamber/Visitors Center will also continue to manage the Blythewood section of the BigGrabYardSale.com web page and Big Grab Facebook page.

Mayor Ross looks forward to this all-volunteer event and knows that the return of a street-side, family-friendly ‘garage sale’ will highlight our town’s small businesses. So, remember to “Shop Local’ on September 7th & 8th! My plans as of now have me out of the area that weekend. From now until the event, should you have any questions, please contact Steve Hasterok, Director, Conference Center and Events, Town of Blythewood at (803) 754-0501 or hasteroks@townofblythewoodsc.gov.
